Introduction
Self registration enables app store administrators to generate a unique URL that can be shared with employees, partners or customers so they can self register their mobile devices & install the app store. Once a user has self registered a device they can install the app store on additional devices by visiting the same URL from the other device and signing in. With Self Registration app store administrators have the option to invite individual users via the standard email method or choose to generate a unique self registration URL to have their users self register.
CAUTION
If you are not using user self-registration on your account currently, try to avoid using it on any new groups to which you will be adding users. Otherwise, you may find issues with users accessing apps for that new group.
Handling Users and Groups as an App Store Administrator
To invite users via self registration you'll first need to Add a Group and select the checkbox to enable self registration. To enable self registration for an existing Group click on the gray chain link icon to the left of the Group name and click the Enable Self Registration button. Detailed instructions are below.
How to Add a Group
- Navigate to the Groups tab under the App Store selection in the header banner.
- Click on the Add Group button
- Provide a name and a description for the group. (NOTE: providing a description is optional).
- Select the apps that users in this group will have access to.
- Select the Self registration enabled checkbox to generate a unique URL that can be shared with app store users to self register their mobile devices & install the app store.
- Select the Auto-approve devices for self registered users checkbox to auto-approve the devices a self registered user wants to install the app store on. If you leave this box unchecked an app store administrator will be notified and have to manually approve devices when group members want to install the app store.
- Click on the Save button at the bottom of the form.
Enable Self Registration for Existing Group
- Navigate to the Groups tab under the App Store selection in the header banner.
- In the Actions column click on the gray chainlink icon () to enable self registration for this group.
- A lightbox window will display. Click on the green Enable Self Registration button to turn on self registration for your users.
Retrieve the Self Registration URL for a Group
- Navigate to the Groups tab under the App Store selection in the header banner.
- In the Actions column click on the green chainlink icon () to view t.
- This will launch the App Store Web Registration URL window, which displays the unique self registration URL for this group.
- Copy the URL and select your own method for communicating this URL to group members (For example: create an 'Install App Store' button to display on your corporate intranet, embed has a hyperlink in an HTML email to your users, or simply email the URL. The choice is yours on how best to communicate to your group members.)
- Click the Test Link hyperlink to test the link and view what your users will see on their mobile device when they visit the URL.
View Self Registered Users
- Navigate to the Groups tab under the App Store selection in the header banner.
- In the Actions column click on the blue Manage Users for Group icon to view the group members.
- As users self register they will display on the Manage Users for Group page.
Instructions for App Store Users
Users who have been invited to self register will have to complete a short registration form to initiate the installation of the app store. Following are the steps users will take to self register and install the app store on their devices.
Self Registering a Device - New Members
- From the mobile device the app store will be installed on, click on the self registration URL to open the app store self registration screen.
- Provide the following information:
- Name.
- Email address.
- Unique password.
- Verify your password.
- Click on the Activate App Store button.
- The app store will begin installing on your mobile device. Follow the install prompts on your mobile device to complete the app store installation.
- Once finished you may open and use the enterprise app store.
Self Registering Additional Devices - Existing Members
- From the mobile device the app store will be installed on, click on the self registration URL to open the app store self registration screen.
- Click the orange Sign In button in the top right to sign in as an existing member.
- Enter your email address (must be the same email address previously used when first self registering.
- Enter your password. (NOTE: If you've forgotten your password click on the Recover your password link to have it resent to you.)
- Click on the Activate App Store button.
- The app store will begin installing on your mobile device. Follow the install prompts on your mobile device to complete the app store installation.
- Once finished you may open and use the enterprise app store.
