This article details the onboarding experience for an Android user invited to the store via email. This will be similar for a local, AD and LDAP user.
The updated UI was deployed in January of 2015.
The Steps of the Android User Onboarding Experience
Receiving the Email
The user will receive an email with a link to start the onboarding process. Included in this example is a user who requires the use of a one time passphrase. This is an optional setting when creating the user. If the user does not require a passphrase, one will NOT be included in the email.
NOTE: The emails sent from your account can be modified to suite your needs and branding scenario.
Installing the Container
Once the user clicks the link, the user will be prompted to download the container.
The user will click on the Download button to download the store and press OK when the warning appears. Once completed, they will need to swipe down from the top of your screen to see the downloaded file.
They will click on the most recent “.apk” file listed in the notifications and will, at this point, be asked to accept permissions for this app.
The user will click Install and the container will be installed on their device.
The user must click Open to open the app store and finish the onboarding process.
Once the container is installed and opened, the user must register this install.
They will be presented with the following form.
The user must provide a valid email address and click Next.
NOTE: If the user does not require a security token, they will not see this step.
The user must provide a valid password (for AD/LDAP/Self Registered users) or passphrase and, finally, click on the Login button.
Once the app store is installed and the user registered, the user should see the apps that are available to them for their device.
